Indigenous Support Network

ISN – University of Colorado

Mission Statement

Indigenous Support Network is a student-driven, non-profit organization at the University of Colorado. We work to provide students the opportunity to engage in activist and educational projects concerning human rights, development, and emergency relief in developing countries and indigenous communities around the world.

ISN provides the space for students to individually and collectively pursue and develop projects and campaigns of their own, concerning development, human rights, and emergency relief. It is up to the student to explore the area of interest and develop a campaign or project. The different ways you can engage in projects and campaigns vary from project to project. Typically students get involved and work on these issues by doing fundraising for grassroots development organizations and projects, interning or volunteering with community development and human rights organizations, or carry out educational and activist work with partner groups in the countries we work with about global human rights and development issues, etc.

We also sponsor conferences, forums, andĀ conventions, both for students to organize here on campus or to attend to. The most fascinating educational experience however, is when students travel to communities directly engaged in development and human rights struggles and participate first-hand in the experience. We have a few of these delegations (which can range from 7 days to up to a month) lined up for Spring and Summer 2006!

We are always looking to expand the reach of our projects and campaigns! To find out more information about the organizations, campaigns/projects, how to get involved, meeting times, etc. you can reach us at: isn@colorado.edu
